Nicole Routhier

BFA Young Artist Alum Nicole Routhier

Nicole Routhier graduated in 2009 from Salem High School in Salem, New Hampshire.  In 2008-2009, she studied with Judy Grant in the Boston Flute Academy Young Artist Program.  She previously studied with flutists Christina Kelsh and Douglas Worthen.

During high school, Ms. Routhier played in the Boston Youth Symphony under the direction of Federico Cortese.  She played in the BYSO Repertory Orchestra as well, under the direction of Joel Bard.  Ms. Routhier has performed in Boston’s Symphony Hall, Sanders Theatre, the Tsai Performance Center, and the NH Capitol Center for the Arts.  She participated in New Hampshire All-State for 4 years, and NH Chamber All-State for 3 years.

Ms. Routhier was a finalist in the 2007 New England String Ensemble Flute Competition.  She has played in masterclasses for Elizabeth Rowe, Keith Underwood, James Walker, Trudy Kane, Brad Garner, and Nobutaka Shimizu.  In addition, she was a performer in the 2007 Julius Baker Masterclasses.

Ms. Routhier enjoys teaching flute lessons to young beginners, and has taught five students in the past few years. She is an active member of her church, Mary Queen of Peace Parish, and enjoys playing at Sunday Mass, as well as for weddings, art shows, and nursing homes.  Outside of music, Nicole likes spending time with her family and friends, reading, rollerblading, and spending time outside.

Ms. Routhier went on to study flute performance at the University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music, with Professor Marianne Gedigian.
