Flutist Julie Lee is a native of South Korea and graduated from Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, Massachusetts in 2010. She was a member of the New England Conservatory’s Youth Symphony Orchestra and studied flute with the Boston Flute Academy’s Artistic Director Judy Grant in the BFA Conservatory Program. Before coming to Massachusetts, Ms. Lee attended the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan for 3 years (9th, 10th,11th grades), where she studied with flutist Nancy Stagnitta.
Ms Lee has won several national music competitions in Korea, including the Arum Broadcasting Network (ABN) Instrumental Music Competition. Through her participation in the BFA Studio Class, Julie performed in an Orchestral Excerpts Masterclass with BSO Principal Flute Elizabeth Rowe and in a Piccolo Masterclass with the BSO Piccolo Cindy Meyers. After graduating high school, she has continued her flute studies at Mannes College The New School of Music in New York City. She is studying with Keith Underwood. Ms. Lee hopes to become a flute professor in the future.
