Extension Division

Programs and classes for beginners, non-professional adults, flutists who would prefer a less intensive course of study, flutists who do not want as many program components, or flutists who already study privately elsewhere but are interested in our ensembles and workshops.

Ensemble and Seminar Program

Weekly ensemble training plus a wide variety of educational workshops.  Builds informed, complete musicians at every age.  Divided into classes/ensembles based on level of ability.  Open to all students, regardless of where they study privately.

Novice and Beginner Classes

Small group classes designed for beginning level students entering Grades 4-6.  Study with the finest instructors during those all-important early years.  Discover the fun of playing flute and making music with others!

Adult Ensemble & Seminar Program

Ensemble training designed for adult flutists.  Rehearsals and workshops with BFA conductor and guest artists. Focus on interpretation, aural skills, basic technique, body awareness, and the simple joy of making music in a supportive environment.  The Maliotis Chamber Players is an advanced performing ensemble for adults, selected by audition.   The Adult Ensemble & Seminar is a non-performing ensemble, selected by interview and informal audition.

Chamber Music Program

Duos, trios, quartets, and quintets coached by BFA faculty.  All instruments welcome!

Private Lessons/General Studies

Individual and group lessons designed for students who simply want the best flute instruction possible without planning to do major auditions or become professional musicians.
