Meet the 2011-2012 Adult Ensemble & Seminar!

2011-2012 Adult E&S Class

The BFA Adult Ensemble & Seminar offers ensemble training for adult flutists interested in staying involved with or rediscovering music in their lives!

For the 2011-2012 school year, classes run from 10:20-11:50am on Saturdays at the Maliotis Cultural Center (free parking is available).  We focus on ensemble training, interpretation, flute skills, body awareness, and the simple joy of making music in a supportive environment!  Each term consists of 12 classes and presents opportunities to work with many of our inspiring flute faculty members!

Spring Term Course Outline:

Saturdays, 10:20-11:50am

  • First hour of rehearsal: full ensemble
  • Last 30 minutes: breakout trios and quartets
  • Guest Artist masterclass: Geralyn Coticone, retired Boston Symphony Orchestra solo piccolo and flute
  • Optional practice recital, noon-12:15pm (to attend or play)

In addition, Adult Ensemble members may sign up for free extra help sessions with members of the BFA Teacher Training Program (these coachings take place right before class, from 10:00-10:20am).  BFA Adult Ensemble members may also attend our Sunday morning masterclasses with world-renowned guest artists free of charge.

The BFA asks all new members to fill out a Self-Assessment Questionnaire about their experience, skill level, and goals for the program.  This will help you learn more about the program, and will help us better assign parts within a multi-level ensemble, creating a comfortable, fulfilling experience for everybody!
